Fast growing distribiton company in Rhode Island is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team.
JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Responsibilties: • Ensure that financial records are kept and retained in accordance with GAAP and theories • Compile and analyze financial information • Research various accounting treatments and determine correct treatment in accordance with GAAP • Ensure that all internal controls and procedures are followed • Accurately and timely preparation of all month-end journal entries for assigned accounts • Analyze and review assigned accounts to ensure financial statements are accurate and completed in a timely manner • Understand the nature of assigned accounts and how entries are booked to accounts • Review inventory tie-outs and research any discrepancies • Bank reconciliations • Other duties as assigned by the Controller
Job Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline or equivalent work experience • 3-6 years experience in accounting • Experience with accounting for business combinations • Inventory-related experience • Good motivation, judgment and communication skills • Ability to independently identify and solve complex problems • Knowledge of GAAP and theories in relation to financial record-keeping • Ability to develop creative ideas for process improvement using existing financial systems • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Windows-based computer software (esp. Excel) and knowledge of financial and accounting software applications • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
