Reports to the Vice President of Strategy & Business Development. This role will be responsible for understanding the strategic direction of the company, defining a business development strategy and then close transactions. This will be a highly visible role with significant exposure to the CEO, CFO, Board, and other members of the leadership team. Lead the Business Development/M&A function end-to-end (strategy, targeting, sourcing, opportunity evaluation and proposal development, diligence, negotiation and transaction execution) Analyze potential partnerships and investment opportunities for financial and business drivers, trends and metrics, and strategic options to address existing product/ service gaps, increase market share and drive top and bottom line growth Execute sophisticated quantitative analyses and advanced modeling that translates data into actionable insights. Communicate findings to senior leadership identifying key takeaways Provide strategic and financial leadership regarding evaluation of contracts, capital expenditures, potential alliances, acquisitions and/or mergers Ensure strong linkages between Business Development/M&A and strategy, and provide post-deal integration support Build relationships with pipeline partners (i.e., VC/PE firms, bankers, other intermediaries). Monitor department productivity and provide staff members with direction. Provide regular performance feedback to team members
Bachelor’s degree in related field. MBA or Master’s Degree preferred. 7-10 years of Business Development/M&A experience at both corporate as well as in Investment Banks, or Venture Capital/Private Equity firms. Ability to establish clear linkages between BD/M&A opportunities and overall corporate strategy. Experience across the entire BD/M&A pipeline. Strong existing relationships with pipeline partners (i.e., VC/PE firms, bankers, other intermediaries). Demonstrated ability to define portfolio of BD/M&A opportunities. Ability to make informed deal pursuit recommendations based on strategy and opportunity. Strong strategic and financial diligence and negotiation experience. Strong deal execution experience.
