JOB DESCRIPTIONOversee the preparation of the U.S. consolidated income tax return, quarterly Federal estimated payments, and certain other Federal tax filings. Actively participate in the annual tax provision process with respect to the U.S. Federal current and deferred provisions. Identify and lead tax reporting process improvements. Support and assist with the implementation, maintenance and review of internal controls, policies and procedures. Collaborate with the tax planning and tax controversy teams. Interact with all levels of management, as well as internal and external auditors. Responsibilities: - Lead a team of professionals in completing, filing and paying taxes related to the annual consolidated U.S. Form 1120 - Monitor and ensure timely identification of and compliance with evolving IRS disclosure and reporting requirements - Analyze the U.S. Form 1120 reporting implications of tax planning initiatives and other significant transactions - Participate actively in the completion of the U.S. Federal component of the annual tax provision - Identify and lead process improvements around tax reporting - Assist in recruiting, training, developing and evaluating staff - Participate in FIN 48 analysis of Federal tax issues for financial statement purposes - Proactively collaborate with the tax planning team to support accurate reporting of transactions, with the controversy team in support of IRS examinations, and with the state team for a seamless transition from Federal to state reporting - Manage the completion, filing and payment of taxes related to Forms 990-PF, 720 and 945 - Ensure effective and practical implementation of corporate policies, standards, and procedures - Interact with internal and external auditors - Occasional travel in-state and to other out-of-state organizational sites
Bachelor's Degree - CPA Certification (active license status) - 10 years of relevant tax experience with medium to large public companies and/or large accounting firms
- Masters in Taxation or JD - Financial institution tax experience - SOX and internal controls experience within the tax reporting context - Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a large, complex corporate environment - Experience with: Corptax, PeopleSoft or Hyperion - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Strong analytical and problem solving skills - Ability to research and analyze income tax reporting issues - Excellent project managerial and interpersonal skills
