JOB DESCRIPTIONA publicly traded and highly recognizable digital media company seeks a Senior Manager for Accounting Policy and Financial Reporting at their Dulles, VA location. The Senior Manager will be tasked with addressing a variety of technical U.S. GAAP related issues, including business combination, share-based payments, revenue recognition, accounting for leases, discontinued operations, exit and disposal of facilities and employee related matters. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for preparing SEC filings and financial reporting used by external auditors. The ideal candidate for this opportunity will possess significant experience in technical accounting or accounting policy, public company accounting experience and a thorough understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Researching and writing policy on technical accounting issues related to business combination, share-based payment, goodwill and other intangibles, restructuring, revenue recognition, consolidation accounting, leases, fixed assets and other specialized areas of accounting literature. • Preparing SEC filings, including 10Q and 8K, according to SEC rules and regulations. • Performing impact analysis on the effects of new accounting standard updates and/or SEC rules and assisting other units and departments with the implementation of new accounting standards. • Preparing monthly analytics required by external auditors that summarize and analyze financial results to ensure reasonableness in relation to historical results, market trends and budget expectations. • Understanding valuation concepts and running valuation models, including discounted cash flows, market and cost approach and option pricing models (e.g. Black-Scholes model). • Assisting with the coordination of internal communications and training on select U.S. GAAP and SEC topics. • Assisting with internal controls documentation, development and review to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Well-qualified candidates will possess the following: • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related discipline. Master’s or MBA and CPA preferred. • 6 to 10 years of directly related experience dealing with technical accounting matters. • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles including U.S. GAAP and FASB requirements and a robust understanding of internal control principles. • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, advanced MS Access and Excel skills. • Strong organizational, project management, analytical and documentation skills.
