Our client, a multinational insurance company is seeking a Manager, Technical Accounting for its New York Office. As part of the Technical Accounting Group, the manager will provide technical accounting support, implement changes for new and existing accounting policies/estimates, and account for significant non-standard transactions.
• Assisting in ensuring compliance with US GAAP/IFRS and providing accounting advice and support to reporting offices in numerous countries and regional finance leaders. • Implementing accounting policies and guidance. • Writing accounting policy memorandum. • Reviewing appropriateness of accounting for specific transactions and items. • Ensuring all accounting inquiries are addressed in a timely manner and are appropriately documented and communicated. • Assisting in providing training sessions on various accounting issues. • Working closely with Reporting and Regional Offices and various other functions including Corporate Consolidation, Investment Accounting, Treasury, Actuarial, Reinsurance, and FP&A as well as internal and external auditors on accounting related issues. • Remaining current on emerging accounting issues and educating Reporting and Regional Offices on applicable developments.
• B.A. / B.S. degree is required, CPA and/or Public Accounting experience is preferred. • 7 or more years of experience in accounting with a strong preference for a technical accounting role. • Previous experience research and resolving accounting/transaction issues • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS. • Proficient in the use of MS Office: Excel, Word, Access & PowerPoint. • Knowledge and experience within the Insurance Industry preferred. • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are essential.
