JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Accounting Policy Manager will act as an accounting policy/technical accounting resource for the business supporting initiatives such as researching new product offerings and changes/modifications to current products. The candidate interacts with many business lines within the business understanding issues/challenges at hand and provides advice as to accounting impact as well as advises about changes that may be made to achieve a desired outcome. Communication, both written and verbal are critical to this position as the candidate will be responsible for articulating a policy position with business unit staff, Corporate and outside consultants or auditors as necessary. To support this position, the candidate will perform technical research, connect the technical research to a stated transaction, issue or challenge, establish an accounting conclusion for the transaction and present such conclusion both verbally as well as through a written memorandum. The Accounting Policy Manager also monitors, evaluates impact and communicates on accounting changes/developments that may impact the business's financial statements/results. This position will also support special projects as assigned.
Master's degree in accounting, or related field. CPA certification or work experience Seven or more years of experience in a related field with specific GAAP/policy research experience Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, theories and controls
Effective verbal and written communication skills Experience with communicating results to senior or board level audiences Ability to manage multiple tasks Thorough knowledge of applicable financial laws, regulations and reporting requirements Effective system capabilities including, excel, database inquiry, and access.
