Job Description:
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Risk Manager is responsible for directing worldwide insurance programs to ensure maximum protection of the Corporation's assets at the most economical cost. This person is a key resource to identify, manage and provide innovative solutions to minimize or mitigate risk exposures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Develop and advise management regarding potential risk exposures and determine the appropriate levels of insurance. o Negotiate with the insurance underwriters and brokers to recommend to management the optimal coverage levels. o Coordinate with in-house legal counsel, claims administrators, insurance brokers and carriers to efficiently investigate, process and defend claims against the Corporation. o Provide a risk assessment for business development opportunities through acquisitions. or products. Review claims history as well as current insurance policies and exposures. o Develop and implement a risk management education program to increase awareness of managing risks and safety. Managing global insurance program renewals. o Develop and implement systems, policies and procedures to identify and quantify exposures and risks. o Conduct pre-renewal strategy sessions with brokers and management. Analyze the market conditions with the brokers to assess favorable pricing opportunities. o Work with the brokers and underwriters to provide them information needed to accurately quote the insurance programs. o Timely filing of completed renewal documentation. o Conduct in-person meetings to discuss renewal with brokers and underwriters where appropriate. o Proactively identify areas where insurance transfer may be an option for consideration. Lead the Enterprise Risk Management process. o Collect and analyze risks from all risk owners (functional and geographic leaders and BU presidents). o Review risks in individual team meetings with each group; summarize top risks facing each group. o Conduct annual calibration meeting to review the top risks with all risk owners. o Report findings to senior management. Effectively track and maintain claims. o Maintain a complete listing and evaluate the status of general liability and workers compensation claims through a third party administrator. o Act as the main corporate liaison for worldwide claims and provide timely notification to the insurance carriers. o Conduct quarterly claim reviews with outside counsel, in house personnel and claims adjusters for workers' compensation, product, general and auto liability claims. Coordinate with the captive insurance company administrators to ensure proper reporting. o Provide oversight to the review process of the monthly captive financial statements. Remain current with the practices of the captive administrator to effectively manage the payment of claims and safeguard assets. o Facilitate the communication of the claims administrator with the captive team to accurately reflect the case reserves on the financial statements of the captive. o Review the interim and final annual actuary reports in detail and ensure that the captive has booked the results correctly. Understand and explain the changes in the Incurred But Not Reported Reserves (IBNR). o Assist in the compliance with the local laws and regulations of the Bermuda-based captive. o Provide support to meet the needs of the outside auditor. Supervise the monthly general ledger close process. o Complete review of the month-end corporate insurance expense results compared to prior year and budget, including the results of the captive insurance company. o Supervise the review of month end claim reporting by the third party administrator. o Review insurance expense and reserve accounts for accuracy and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley reporting requirements.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications - Must Have: Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management or related field. Associate in Risk Management (ARM) a plus. Experience: Minimum of seven year's experience in corporate risk management. Knowledge and Skills: Strong negotiation skills. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with diverse financial and non-financial personnel and effectively manage staff. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Self-starter with high energy, possessing a hands-on work ethic. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Global Corporate Insurance Experience & Enterprise Risk Management experience are the keys to the hire!!
