The Accounting Policy Group is an integral component of finance's risk management process. The VP will provide technical guidance to finance, risk as well as advise front office leadership in creating financial products/securitization structures, proposed capital markets offerings and large M&A transactions.
Responsibilities: Advise business leadership on the accounting implications of newly created and/or unusual products/transactions. Research and provide accounting policy guidance to business managers after an accounting policy issue is identified. Document resolution and report results. ? Participate as technical accounting expert in new product approval process. ? Follow development of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). Collate findings for management, staff, and other businesses. Direct implementation of new accounting standards, under US GAAP and IFRS. Develop disclosures for new/updated standards in company's financial statements. Create presentation for Finance/controllers staff.
Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting with 5-7+ years or more of work experience. National CPA firm audit or financial institution accounting policy experience plus. Knowledge of US GAAP and financial markets and ASC pronouncements related to M&A and overall capital markets businesses.
