JOB DESCRIPTIONCompany information: Our client is a Beverly Hills based, industry-leading talent agency who represents Actors, Musical Artists, Directors, Writers, and Producers. They have operations in California, New York, and Nashville. Our client recently acquired a 30 person artist management agency in Brooklyn, NY that works with a very specific, select group of musical artists on an international basis. We are assisting them in finding a Controller who will report directly to the Brooklyn based Head of Finance, and dotted line to the Corporate Controller in Beverly Hills. Position: Controller Responsibilities: • This position leads the Accounting team and demands leadership, energy and sound judgment in accounting for the transactions of the operations. • The Controller ensures all transactions are within the Company’s defined policies and procedures and in accordance with GAAP. • This role manages all general ledger transactions, accounting functions, and supervises accounting staff responsible for the monthly close. • The Controller will assist with annual budget preparation and the analysis of actual results. • The role interacts extensively with the parent company in Beverly Hills and requires the timely submission of Financial Statements, Management Reports, and Budgets and forecasts.
Desired Experience and Traits: • Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field • A CPA (active or inactive status OK) • Prior experience in a management level position in Accounting is required. Prior experience as a Controller in a mid-sized company is a big plus • You must be energetic, outgoing, and able to work in a very creative, fast paced environment. Using good judgment to establish policies and procedures within a fluid, people-oriented agency environment is required to ensure success in the role.
