Job Description:
Re-underwrite closed loans for eligibility with respect to various investor guidelines for the purposes of putback and security law claims. Perform risk analysis and make decisions regarding deficiencies identified during the review process. Identify transaction components that indicate a potential for fraud and perform sufficient investigative work to resolve issues that have been identified. Accurately record data using electronic documentation and underwriting tools. Communicate the results of file reviews both verbally and in written format to internal and external customers. Maintain a sound knowledge of various underwriting guidelines, AUS guidelines and risk assessment tools used to decision mortgage loans. Maintain a sound knowledge of secondary market activity and business practices as they impact underwriting quality and origination activity.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications - Must Have: A minimum of 10 years of underwriting experience, with significant manual underwriting experience. Strong understanding of traditional mortgage origination and underwriting practices. A working knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Guidelines. Excellent analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Secondary market experience and/or previous QA/QC experience is preferred. Previous experience underwriting Sub-Prime or Alt Loans preferred.
