JOB DESCRIPTIONI. General Accounting Responsibilities: a) Reviewing legal documents of acquisitions and setting up the corresponding tracking/amortization schedules and maintaining those schedules; b) Performing and managing the day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger maintenance, accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash disbursements; c) Accurate, consistent and complete reconciliations of the general ledger accounts; d) Maintain an accurate loan accounting system (LaPro) e) Maintain audit work paper files and supporting schedules; f) Generate and verify various excel reports; II. Assist with year-end audits and quarterly reviews, working extensively with external auditors; III. Assist with preparation and timely filing of all SEC reports; IV. Assist with preparation of quarterly packages for Board of Directors, including budgets and forecasts; V. Assist with annual tax filings, including preparation of tax schedules; VI. Assist with Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 and internal controls; VII. Assist with preparation of reports to lenders; and VII. Develop and maintain working relationships with peers and key members of other departments supported by the Accounting Department VIII. Work on ad hoc and special projects, including assisting when necessary on other public companies within the organization. IX. Assist in managing a shared staff accountant
? Three to five years of public accounting experience. “Big 4” or other large accounting firm. Excellent understanding of accounting concepts, practices and procedures and strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical ability. Able to develop, communicate, and focus on key issues in complex situations. An excellent working knowledge of financial reports. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
General Ledger accounting activity. Experience with the financial services industry Experience with Solomon accounting system and FRX report writer, or another accounting system and report writer with similar specifications
