| Seeking a Director of Oil and Gas Accounting to join the Accounting Management team of a dynamic public company in Austin, Texas. This position is a key player within the organization. You will be responsible for directing the overall function of the Oil and Gas Accounting organization in accordance with industry standards, regulatory agencies, company objectives and policies. Providing strategic direction and leadership to the corporate oil and gas accounting team and liaise with the operations side of the business. Qualifications to be considered include: • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 10-15 years of accounting experience in exploration and production (upstream) industry and U.S. GAAP experience, preferably successful efforts accounting method • 10 years of leadership role in similar position and demonstrated success in comparable role • Working knowledge of Excalibur or similar oil and gas systems • Oil and Gas SEC disclosure experience required • Strong decision making & analytical skills • Outstanding oral and written communication skills • Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for all aspects of oil and gas accounting under US GAAP. • Ensure department properly utilizes successful efforts method of accounting • Responsible for Oil and Gas SEC disclosures – FAS 69 / ASC Topic 932 • Supervision of oil and gas accounting department • Manage the accounting of intangible versus tangible assets related to drilling activity • Ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of volume, revenue, and expenses associated with the production and sale of oil and gas • Work closely with Operations, Billing and Financial Planning & Analysis to prepare the monthly revenue accruals and analyze Key Performance Indicators • Ensure accurate JIB processing and revenue distribution • Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance • Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues • Identify opportunities for efficiency, continuous improvement and end-to-end process design across organization • Establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges • Participate in the development of the organization's plans and programs in evaluating and advising on the impact of long-range planning. |
