This position is responsible for producing, preparing and filing the SEC reports and Earnings Releases for a major San Francisco Bank. Open to relocating the right candidate. JOB DESCRIPTION• Produce and review the Bank’s 10Qs, 10Ks, 8Ks and Earnings Release, including reviewing supporting workpapers that support both the SEC filings and the internal and external audit processes • Recommend and implement procedural changes as needed to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of reporting • Manage the reporting production timeline, including overseeing the process of obtaining quarterly data and related information from various Bank departments and managing relationships with external printing and XBRL services • Represent the SEC reporting team by providing assistance and training to all levels and areas of the Bank and communicating as needed to the various Business Units providing source data • Coordinate with other reporting groups to ensure consistent reporting • Research and analyze all related US GAAP and SEC reporting and accounting requirements, including reviewing peer bank filings to identify and benchmark best practices and analyzing publications and pronouncements and rules to keep abreast of changes; present findings and analysis to SEC Reporting Manager • Supervise, train and mentor a staff of 3, sharing your deep knowledge of the technical aspects of SEC reporting; interview, hire, promote and terminate staff as needed; counsel and conduct performance reviews and plan work • Coordinate implementation of disclosure changes, including disseminating information and procedures to impacted business partners, working with them to clarify requirements and providing technical guidance to interpret and analyze accounting policy changes; supervise analysts in testing new data to ensure timely reporting compliance; respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial disclosures reported or filed • Work with divisional managers on key financial and IT projects to identify areas impacting SEC Reporting; provide guidance on requirements and establish an effective network and communications with other project participants and vendors • Other projects and duties as assigned
• CPA or Chartered Accountant certification required • 10-15 years of related SEC reporting experience, including a minimum of 3 years of public accounting • Accounting or finance degree • Banking industry experience strongly preferred • Strong, current understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations • Demonstrated ability to develop and train a team of accounting professionals • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills • Excellent (verbal and written) communications and interpersonal skills • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently to meet tight deadlines\ • Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams and manage multiple priorities • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Banking or related financial services industry experience preferred
