| Client is looking to hire someone who is interested in working on a variety of projects affecting different parts of the firm, though the position is primarily tax oriented. Responsibilities include: · Prepare Federal, State, and Local partnership and other tax returns. · Coordinate compliance and correspondence with tax authorities. This includes reviewing the relevant tax files. · Recommend appropriate action and compose any necessary responses. · Collect data and organize documents/binders for various tax examinations. · Research federal, state and international tax issues, and compose memoranda summarizing the findings. · Develop and work on detailed spreadsheet calculations and reconciliations. · Prepare the state apportionment schedules including an annual review of the rules for each jurisdiction. · Maintain tax log/calendar for all entities. As new entities are formed, research what tax filings are required based on the type of entity and where it is doing business. · Update book vs. tax basis reconciliation with M-3 analysis to assist in modeling and planning. · Prepare periodic and year-end estimated tax schedules. · Prepare various tax elections. · Coordinate with foreign offices on financial and tax issues. · Work with experienced tax and accounting professionals on various projects as they arise Requirements: · A candidate would ideally have 3-8 years of experience in the tax department of a public accounting firm and/or at a hedge fund or a broker-dealer. |
