This is a growing organization. The position will report directly to the Director of Internal Audit and offer project based work as well as day to day responsibilities.


GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs internal audits to independently assess accuracy of financial records, effectiveness of controls, efficiency of operation, safeguarding of assets and compliance with rules and regulations. Under the general direction of the Director of Internal Audit, responsible for performing professional internal auditing work to aid management in evaluating whether internal controls are adequately designed and operating effectively. Emphasis is on review of key business objectives, risks, and financial and operational internal controls in place to manage those risks. Some travel required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Work directly with Internal Audit personnel to assist in conducting audits to ensure accuracy of financial records, assess internal controls and the efficiency of operations. Perform audits of various business units in conformance with the international standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing Standards using the following process: • Prepare risk assessments of various business units. • Develop audit programs outlining testing activities. • Execute audit programs of various business units and document relevant facts to support audit scope and conclusions on effectiveness and adequacy of areas tested. • Develop recommendations for control improvements and present them to management. • Prepare and issue audit reports and other related communications. • Report on results of audits to Company Senior Management and the Audit Committee as requested. • Track management action plans for managing risk associated with control weaknesses. 2. Performs audit work under limited supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment. The work involves 1) interviewing personnel to document process flows, control objectives, risks, and control procedures, 2) defining the audit scope, objective and testing procedures, 3) performing the test steps and 4) reporting the results and conclusions to be reviewed by Senior Level Audit personnel. 3. Leads the execution of more complex financial, operational and/or compliance audits and performs internal control testing in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 guidance. Direct involvement and execution of less complex audits, such as Branch Operations Audits, Member Bank Information Technology Review and/or Bank Secrecy Act Reviews is also expected. This involvement would begin at the planning phase and end with the issuance of the completed audit work papers and draft report to a Senior Level Audit individual for their review. 4. Provide supervision, guidance and on-the-job training to the Staff Auditor and Senior Staff Auditor and with audit-related questions as needed. 5. Review work papers of Staff Auditors and Senior Staff Auditors, making suggestions for changes, if needed. Assist with review and/or preparation of the final report and work papers for further review by the Director of Internal Audit and submission to the Senior Management and Audit Committee as assigned. 6. Review all work papers and final reports issued before review by Director of Internal Audit, as assigned. 7. Maintain adequate supporting work papers to ensure audit reports are properly supported. 8. Effectively evaluate audit results, weighing the relevancy, accuracy, and perspective of conclusions against accumulated audit evidence. 9. Be effective in communicating audit results, both verbally and in writing, so they are persuasive, in appropriate context, and understood by the recipient. 10. Assists in identifying and evaluating the organization’s risk areas and provide input to the development of the annual audit plan. 11. Keeps abreast of banking policies and procedures, current developments in accounting and auditing professions, and changes in local, state and federal laws, as applicable. 12. Interact effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings. 13. Attend internal/external meetings, seminars to expand professional expertise to support assigned functions. 14. Maintains all organizational and professional ethical standards. Demonstrate high ethical standards as a member of the internal audit department. 15. Assist in the coordination of efforts with the external audit firm, outsourced/co-sourced risk consulting firm and/or regulatory agency upon request. 16. Attend Audit Committee’s meeting to review audit reports and answer questions as needed. 17. Conduct any other projects, reviews, examinations, investigations, due diligence, and audits deemed appropriate in their circumstance requested by the Director of Internal Audit. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job title has supervisory responsibilities.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES: 1. Strong knowledge of audit procedures, including a working knowledge of IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors) Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and the COSO Internal Control Framework. 2. Strong knowledge of the bank’s policies and procedures. Follows policies and procedures and supports the organization’s goals and values. 3. Adequate knowledge of compliance laws and regulations, bank internal controls and audit best practices. 4. Ability to organize multiple projects, conducts independent testing, identify risks, develop conclusions, and produce written products. 5. Ability to perform work programs to completion in a timely fashion. Uses time efficiently. 6. Ability to distinguish conclusions with major impact from those with minimal impact to the banks. 7. Skill in operating computer terminals and printers and proficient knowledge of Microsoft office products. 8. Good communication skills; oral, written, and listening. Keep Senior Level Audit personnel informed of the progress on each audit assigned in a timely manner. 9. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. 10. Ability to create an efficient work environment with minimal supervision. 11. Ability to function as a team player. Listens clearly and follows instructions. 12. Accuracy and attention to detail. 13. Seeks increased responsibilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and five plus years of previous audit, regulatory examination and/or banking experience required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: CPA, CIA, CFSA, CFE, CISA, CBA or other credible designations required. Maintain the required continuing professional education.
