Job Description:
This position is critical to and a major component in the financial accounting function. The responsibilities include monthly financial statement preparation, coordination and management of month-end closing activities, design and writing of SAP reports, management and review of general ledger account reconciliations, external audit schedule preparation and support and ensuring compliance with various corporate financial policies and procedures. This position provides support for integration activities for mergers and acquisitions. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Manage the month end closing process: • Coordinate and monitor the closing journal entries prepared by finance department staff • Ensure all staff are adhering to the month-end process deadlines • Prepare the Monthly Closing Schedule making sure process deadlines conform to company policy for the timing of month-end, quarter-end and year-end close • Analyze general ledger detail in order to determine and ensure that all relevant accounting transactions have been properly recorded • Determine and prepare necessary journal entries. • Manage and review monthly account reconciliation process. • Actively participate in the monthly Flash meetings: - Provide explanations for Income Statement fluctuations within scope • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow for all legal entities (“Financial Package”). Prepare consolidating financial statement schedules. • Analyze variances on a financial statement level and provide overall analytical reviews of financial statement fluctuations. • SAP Finance Liaison • Ownership and integration of R/3 SAP reportable components • Finance lead on SAP R/3 projects • Quality assurance roll in testing • Continually develop and create SAP R/3 reports to increase the efficiency of the month-end and financial reporting processes • Work closely with SAP team and provide guidance for financial reporting processes in building functionality in the R/3 modules • Prepare schedules and provide support for external auditors and tax return preparers during quarterly reviews and annual audit. • Document financial policies and procedures as required and ensure compliance within control environment. • Work with others in team to evaluate current processes and procedures for opportunities to gain efficiencies through change. • Lead other senior and staff accountants in daily accounting activities. • Special projects as assigned. Required Skills & Experience: • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Masters degree preferred. CPA required • Experience with ERP/accounting systems software. Experience with SAP a plus • 8+ years of experience in all areas of accounting, including consolidations (required), international (required), multi-foreign currency (required) • Strong knowledge of GAAP • SEC experience • Advanced computer skills including experience with MS Excel and Microsoft Office products • Supervisory experience required • Ability to adjust readily to change and adapt as needed • Ability to build solid, effective working relationships with others • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, including VP Finance and CFO • Some travel required
