Our client is a top NY based education publishing company, seeking a VP of finance to direct all financial activities for a high profile business unit. The hired professional will be responsible for reporting on divisional performance, risks, cost cutting opportunities and providing overall financial guidance to corporate management.
JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition responsibilities: • Define and analyze key areas of the business, including product profitability and student retention • Prepare annual budget, monthly forecasts, and other financial reports as needed • Forecast revenue based on current sales and future estimates • Develop cost reduction and cost management initiatives • Review and report on operational results including driving operational efficiencies • Provide financial advice and guidance to senior corporate management • Develop key performance indicators to optimize operating results • Provide P/L analysis to support a distributed field sales and service organization • Prepare financial presentations for senior management and executives. • Contribute to strategic planning and development as member of management team • Interact with Corporate Accounting team • Oversee divisional financial planning and analysis function
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required;, MBA or Master’s of Finance preferred. CPA a plus. • Strong understanding of GAAP and its application to business issues • 10+ years progressive accounting/finance experience, including strong operating unit experience • Exceptional analytical and financial analysis skills. • Reporting functions will require ability to quickly obtain Oracle General Ledger mastery, as well as proficiency querying a number of Oracle and proprietary databases using SQL, therefore related experience a plus • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail • Ability to organize and work with large amounts of complex information, managing multiple project priorities
